I started 2020 wanting to read more. So, I added a new note in my phone titled “2020 Book List” to track the few new books I had bought just before Christmas. Little did I know, less than three short months into 2020, we’d end up having a ton of extra time on our hands. I did not set out to read a certain amount of books. My goal was simple: read MORE.
What really transformed this small goal, however, was my family! In an effort to stay connected with my family during the pandemic, we started a bookclub. We each got to pick a book for our club to read and we would hop on a zoom call to discuss our thoughts when we’re done (because it was 2020 and zoom calls were all the rage).
My 2020 Book List:
- Over The Top by Jonathan Van Ness
- Water For Elephants by Sara Gruen
- Naturally Tan by Tan France
- Havasupai Trail Guide by Greg Witt (on our four hour drive to the Havasupai trailhead!!!!!)
- Eat Pray Love by Elizabeth Gilbert (for the 5th time)
- Becoming by Michelle Obama
- And Then She Was Gone by Lisa Jewell
- Where The Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens
- The Hate U Give – Angie Thomas
- Verity by Colleen Hoover
- It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover
- COMA by Robin Cook
- Conviction by Denise Mina
- The Guest List by Lucy Foley
- The Night Tiger by Yangtze Choo
- The Henna Artist by Alka Joshi
- A Woman First: First Woman by Selena Meyer (this is the only audiobook I listened to and it was HILARIOUS)
- Jetsetter by Amanda Eyre Ward
- Such A Fun Age by Kiley Reid
- The Last House Guest by Megan Miranda
- The Last Story of Mina Lee by Nancy Jooyoun Kim
My top 2020 book: The Henna Artist by Alka Joshi. 5 stars. 17 stars. 1 billion stars. This book is so different than anything I’ve ever read before. I loved the setting, the new vocabulary I learned, and most of all, the strong lead female character.
Happy reading, friends!
